Radiance and Radiesse®

Radiance & RadiesseRadiesse and Radiance represent the same dermal filler product; Radiesse is the official new name of the substance. Radiesse (Radiance) consists of powder-like calcium hydroxylapatite (HA) suspended in a gel for injection. Because HA is a normal constituent of our teeth and bones, it appears to be readily accepted by the body. Therefore, no allergy testing is required.

Because of the relatively slow turn-over of HA, Radiesse (Radiance) is characterized by its longevity as a dermal filler. Although the approval of Radiance for its specific application in cosmetic facial plastic surgery is pending, it has been used for a long time in reconstructive facial surgery and orthopedics. In addition, it is FDA-approved as an injectable augmentation product for the vocal folds with a good record of safety and success.

Over the years, Radiesse (Radiance) has been used as a dermal filler for all regions of the face. With the advantage of his experience, Dr. Fechner focuses the use of Radiesse (Radiance) on the laughing folds around the nose and the mouth (nasolabial crease and “Marionette” lines).

How Long Does Radiesse (Radiance) Last?

Lasting in average 12 to 15 months, Radiesse (Radiance) has superior longevity in comparison to most other dermal filler substances available today. Injected under sterile conditions by Dr. Fechner in the office, recovery time after Radiesse (Radiance) injection is only minutes to hours.
