What is a Mini Facelift?

A mini facelift focuses on the lower part of your face. It is a surgical procedure but requires smaller incisions and results in a shorter recovery time than a traditional facelift. Dr. Fechner offers some of the most beautiful results in a mini facelift Boston has to offer, but less comprehensive than what is achieved with a full facelift.

Am I a Candidate for a Mini Facelift?

You might consider a mini facelift if you’ve noticed age, gravity, and sun damage affecting your appearance. You may be frustrated with saggy excess skin and jowls marring your look. You may be unhappy to see deeper folds or creases from nose to sides of the mouth. For patients with mild to moderate signs of facial aging, a mini facelift can restore a refreshed, youthful look. The typical candidate is in their 40s or 50s or who had a facelift in the past that needs a boost.

What Are the Benefits of A Mini Facelift?

A mini facelift allows patients to enjoy a more youthful facial appearance but is less extensive than a traditional facelift. The mini facelift addressed the mid to lower facial area. Benefits include:

  • Faster recovery
  • Smaller incisions
  • Limited scarring
  • Natural results that look great
  • May not require general anesthesia
  • Lower cost than a full facelift

What is the Recovery Like?

Compared to a traditional facelift, recovery from a mini facelift requires less time. Patients can generally return to work or resume normal activities within days. You may experience some swelling and bruising, but this subsides within a couple of weeks. Some patients might want a few extra days off before attending social events. Your recovery will continue gradually and can take a few months to achieve full results.

Why Choose Dr. Fechner for a Mini Facelift?

Choosing who will do your facelift surgery is a very important decision – you will live with the results for years. Dr. Frank Fechner is a double board-certified plastic surgeon that has extensive experience in facial plastic surgery. With more than 10,000 facial procedures performed, Dr. Fechner’s skill and meticulous surgical technique with his Boston mini facelift is known to create beautiful and natural results, and a look you will enjoy for years.

Mini Facelift - FAQ

What’s the Difference Between a Facelift and a Mini Facelift?

A mini facelift is a less extensive facial surgery, addressing the mid to lower facial area. A mini facelift involves shorter incisions, and a faster recovery time. The results of a mini facelift are less comprehensive than a traditional facelift and often the appropriate surgery for patients with some level of youthful skin elasticity, in their 40s or 50s, or to restore the look of an earlier facelift procedure.

What’s the Recovery Like for a Mini Facelift?

A mini facelift involves short incisions. It’s similar to a full facelift, but with smaller incisions, so you can expect some swelling, numbness and bruising. These issues will soon resolve. You should be ready to return to work in about ten days, although some patients return earlier, and some require a bit more healing time.

Can a Mini Facelift be Combined with Other Procedures?

Dermal fillers may be used to enhance the outcome of a mini facelift. Many times patients have fine lines around their eyes, forehead, or lips. Including injectable dermal fillers with a mini facelift can smooth lines and creases. Some patients may choose to undergo eyelid surgery or other enhancements in conjunction with a mini facelift.

What Type of Anesthetic Will be Used?

A mini facelift can be performed with local anesthetic and intravenous sedation or in some cases, general anesthetic.
