Dermal Fillers

As we age, naturally we lose volume in the face, causing its shape and texture to change. Thankfully, dermal fillers can help to improve that. We can inject safe, FDA approved fillers such as Restylane, Bellafill, and Sculptra, right under the skin’s surface to replace that lost volume. This helps to redefine bone structure and plump up desired areas such as lips, cheeks, and jawline. Using filler alongside other treatments can help you achieve your most desired look and show off your best features. There is minimal downtime with these injections, and mild swelling and bruising can be expected that will resolve in a matter of days. Depending on your needs, there are filler options available that last anywhere from 9 months to 5 years! We can customize a plan for you to refresh your look!

We have all heard of Botox or Dysport, but what are they? As neuromodulators, these products are able to temporarily improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles by immobilizing the muscles that cause them. And they are FDA approved! Lines and wrinkles set over time due to facial expression. But don’t stop smiling! Neuromodulators are the perfect way to reverse this damage! Commonly treated areas include the frown lines between the brows, crows feet around the eyes, and forehead grooves. For some patients, Dr. Fechner will also use these products to alleviate wrinkles in the lips and on the nose, and improve dimpling on the chin! This is a quick office procedure with no downtime and it is virtually painless. There is no better way to kick wrinkles to the curb! Lines and wrinkles are not the only thing we can treat, though. Ask your injector about using neuromodulators for chronic migraines, TMJ, eyebrow arch shaping, lower eyelid lines, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), platysmal lines (neck bands), correcting a gummy smile and jaw recontouring. Now that’s a lot of improvement! With results that last 3-4 months on average, we recommend coming in for regular treatments.

BOTOX temporarily limits muscle contractions at the injection sites to smooth wrinkles and lines. Dr. Fechner typically uses Botox to reduce the appearance of frown lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet and forehead grooves. In some of his patients, Dr. Fechner uses Botox to help lip wrinkles, chin dimples and wrinkles on the nose. When injected correctly but conservatively, Botox will produce a smoother, younger look that appears natural.

A muscle relaxer rather than a dermal filler, Dysport is a very effective temporary non-surgical treatment that functions similarly to BOTOX. It can be used to diminish lines and wrinkles on the forehead, neck, and around the eyes. Dr. Fechner uses Dysport to shape the jawline, improve lip and chin appearance and to address some specific asymmetries of the face. He will discuss your personalized treatment plan in detail with you and explain how Dysport treatments may play a role for your facial enhancement.

An unattractive double chin can be reduced with Kybella. Synthetic deoxycholic acid is used to aid in the breakdown of fat cells. When injected into fatty under-chin areas, the fat cells are destroyed and in the following weeks, naturally flushed from the body.

Juvèderm is a gel-like injectable filler made from hyaluronic acid. The naturally-occurring compound found in our skin can be used to fill in deep wrinkles and creases such as laugh lines, Marionette lines, and nasal furrows for a more youthful, smooth appearance.

Restylane is a hyaluronic acid filler commonly used by Dr. Fechner for wrinkle reduction, lip enhancement and volume restoration of the face. There are a few different concentrations of the Restylane formula, allowing Dr. Fechner to provide a higher degree of customization for his patients. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is absorbed more slowly than many dermal filler products, allowing for longevity in results.

Dr. Fechner prefers Bellafill for patients who are looking for the most durable injectable soft tissue filler. The collagen gel base in Bellafill provides near-instant softening of acne scars and smile lines. The microspheres inside the filler inspire the growth of your body’s own collagen and tissue for longer-lasting results. Dr. Fechner commonly uses Bellafill for long-lasting jawline contouring and cheek enhancement.

Dr. Fechner considers Sculptra a facial volumizer. Sculptra is used to fill in loss of volume in the cheeks, temples, or other regions of the face. Creases such as nasolabial folds can be softened, and plumpness restored for youthful results that last one-and-a-half years or even longer.

The face and hands are two areas that age quickly due to the thin quality of the skin in those areas. Dr. Fechner prefers Radiesse for its ability to rejuvenate the back of the hands by providing softness in areas where tendons and vein show prominently.

Related to Juvèderm, Voluma is a gel-like formula that can correct the deep tissues of the cheeks and age-related loss of volume. The filler restores a youthful plumpness, and is an incredible anti-aging treatment when administered correctly.

Dr. Fechner loves to provide an instant improvement for his patients utilizing injectables and other skin rejuvenation treatments, often in combination. This customized non-surgical rejuvenation procedure (Q-Lift) can provide facelift-like results. Dr. Fechner stresses that he uses the effective Q-lift also to delay the need for a surgical facelift, or to maintain the results of a previous procedure.

We offer an array of injectables with similar purposes, but small distinctions set them apart. Visit this page for an explanation of different types of wrinkles and creases, and the unique differences between formulas, and the intended uses for each dermal filler.

Lip fillers augment, hydrate, and contour the lips without requiring a surgery, incisions, implants, or a downtime period for recovery.

A lip flip uses BOTOX to produce a gentle parting of the lips and creating a more feminine, youthful look.

Tear trough fillers at Fechner Plastic Surgery & Medspa can help to lessen sunken, hollow-looking contours beneath the eyes and give you the look you have always wanted.

WHEN WILL FECHNER MD PLASTIC SURGERY & MEDICAL SPA OPEN?

Fechner MD will adhere to all local, state, and government mandates. We expect to cautiously resume medical spa and injectable treatments during Phase 2 of the Massachusetts phased reopening. We are awaiting a definitive date from Governor Baker. Cosmetic surgery is expected to resume during Phase 3 of Governor Baker’s plan. We ask for your patience and understanding as our staff is working diligently to reschedule all surgeries and procedures affected by our closure. Please understand that in order to open and adhere to Massachusetts guidelines, we will need to limit the number of staff and patients we have in our building and extend the time between patient appointments in order to sanitize rooms. This means we will have fewer available openings for procedures. In order to maximize our provider appointments, we will continue to hold consultations virtually rather than in person, with a few exceptions (body contouring, Instalift, vein treatments).
