Fresh, youthful, glowing skin is an undeniable asset. Unfortunately, a myriad of skin imperfections can result from sun damage, aging, acne and the build-up of dead cells, making the skin appear dull, wrinkled, spotty, discolored, or scarred.
Chemical peels are an effective, non-surgical solution to dramatically improve the appearance of the skin. Frank Fechner, M.D. performs chemical peels in Worcester and Boston to create smoother, tighter, fresher skin of the face, neck, hands, and décolletage. A medical-grade chemical peel must be selected carefully and correctly to produce a rejuvenated, evenly-toned facial skin, supple and fresh in appearance.
Every individual patient, to maximize results, needs an in-depth evaluation of skin quality. Dr. Fechner is a recognized leader in the field of plastic surgery and aesthetics, and has gained a reputation for excellence in anti-aging technology. Your facial treatment will be customized to match your individual needs, with personal, compassionate care.

MelaBrite/Melanage MD is a superficial peel formulated to improve the texture and appearance of hyperpigmented skin. It entails the application of a cream mask in our office and an at-home skin care regimen. The application of the mask is painless and causes little to no irritation of the skin. On the following 3-4 days you may experience mild irritation similar to that of a sunburn.
The MelaBrite/Melanage MD peel is compounded freshly at the time of your visit to ensure the potency and reliability of the product. The mask is applied during your appointment and then removed by you after specific length of time determined by your skin type. After leaving our office with the mask on your face, you are responsible for following a strict at-home care regimen that will be explained to you. It is critical that you follow the instructions closely which involves the application of several products following the mask removal.
Typically, our patients experience significant improvements in the appearance of the pigmented areas, although results vary. The dark areas should get lighter and the skin texture and tone will improve. In general, the superficial layers of the skin peel in most patients. Patients who suffer from uneven skin tone, pigmentation issues or melasma.
This peel should NOT be used in patients with dermatitis, inflammatory rosacea in the area to be treated, sensitive skin, sunburn, or skin with open wounds, warts or active cold sores. Please inform our staff if you have a history of herpes simplex. The MelaBrite/Melanage MD peel is not recommended for those with a history of allergies, rashes or other skin reactions. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not have this treatment as well as those who have taken Accutane in the past year or have received chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
The MelaBrite/Melanage Mini peel is an advancement in chemical peels that uses gentle acids along with potent non-acidic components that do not burn, wound or damage the skin. It can be used to treat patients of all skin colors.
This peel is ideal for those interested in reducing fine lines, wrinkles and brown spots (hyperpigmentation). The peeling solution may cause mild tingling, but in general the treatment is pain-free.

The Mini peel has significantly less redness and peeling associated with it. We recommend the Mini peel to be given as a series of 4-6 treatments, 2-3 weeks apart.
Similar to the MelaBrite/Melanage Mini peel, this treatment addresses pigmentation, texture and tone in a variety of skin types. The solution used combines an array of acids as well as a brightening component and retinoid.
This treatment is great as a stand-alone superficial peel or can be a great maintenance treatment for the skin after more advanced resurfacing procedures like CO2 laser resurfacing, IPL/BBL treatments, or the MelaBrite MD or Mini peels.

On behalf of the entire team at Fechner MD Plastic Surgery & Medical Spa, we would like to take a moment to say thank you again for your loyalty and support during this unprecedented time. The past several months have been unlike anything we've ever experienced, and we're working hard to evolve so that we can continue to provide you with the patient experience you have come to expect from our practice.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic, Fechner MD Plastic Surgery & Medical Spa has taken extreme precautionary measures, in addition to following the most up to date CDC recommendations and state guidelines to maximize the health and safety of our patients, staff and facility. Our surgical center and medical spa remain committed to providing the best patient care, and we are actively working to take all necessary precautions as we plan to safely re-open our practice. Please help us continue to protect the health and well-being of our patients and workplace by cooperating with all of our precautionary measures and protocols against COVID-19 at your next appointment, or as you plan for your surgery.
As a fully accredited surgical facility, Fechner MD has always observed the highest level of safety and sanitation. In fact, as a surgeon, Dr. Fechner is an expert in infection control. We want to ensure that we are doing everything possible for our patients to safely return for surgical and medical spa treatments alike.
The upgraded work flow and safety protocols we have implemented at Fechner MD far exceed those being recommended by any government agency.
Fechner MD will adhere to all local, state, and government mandates. We expect to cautiously resume medical spa and injectable treatments during Phase 2 of the Massachusetts phased reopening. We are awaiting a definitive date from Governor Baker. Cosmetic surgery is expected to resume during Phase 3 of Governor Baker’s plan. We ask for your patience and understanding as our staff is working diligently to reschedule all surgeries and procedures affected by our closure. Please understand that in order to open and adhere to Massachusetts guidelines, we will need to limit the number of staff and patients we have in our building and extend the time between patient appointments in order to sanitize rooms. This means we will have fewer available openings for procedures. In order to maximize our provider appointments, we will continue to hold consultations virtually rather than in person, with a few exceptions (body contouring, Instalift, vein treatments).
We thank you in advance for your patience throughout this time, and we look forward to seeing you here again as we begin to resume business operations. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Fechner MD Plastic Surgery & Medical Spa at (508) 754-4000 and our team will gladly assist you. Thank you!
